Gabi is your neighbourhood bar and kitchen in the heart of Yarraville, from the team behind Navi.

The coals are at the centre of the kitchen, with a menu built around thoughtful produce, bold flavours and food that works just as well for a quick bite at the bar as it does spread across the table for the whole evening. Behind it, the drinks lean playful — good bottles, cocktails with a few turns and plenty worth staying for another glass.

The name Gabi comes from two places. Gabija, the Baltic spirit of fire and protector of the home and hearth, and Gabi, Co-owner Miriam Wahlhütter’s grandmother — a great cook, the centre of a gathering and someone whose recipes still live on in the family. Different stories, same idea: warmth, food and looking after people.

Drop in before a movie or claim a stool for a drink on the way home for something casual or make plans and bring a few friends along and order too much food. You can always settle into a corner and see where the night goes.

No ceremony. Just a comfortable space, glowing coals and genuine hospitality.
